Looking for family-friendly things to do? Each week we will highlight our top 10 list for things to do in a certain area.  Each week we will feature a new area, and this week we are highlighting Oley!

1.  Oley Turnpike Dairy - It's more than just a diner & ice cream! The Oley Turnpike Dairy features a small zoo where you can feed animals such as goats, donkeys, llamas, sheep and other animals. In the fall you can enjoy  their Fall Fest with hayrides and a small maze. There is also a play area which is perfect for letting your little ones run off some steam. My kids love to play on Noah's Ark while they are there.

2. Evelyn & Harriett's - A gift store with a collection of fine art and unique items from around the world on the first floor and a toy store on the second floor. The toy store is a wonderful place to buy toy's for birthday parties or take your kids for a special treat. The best part about the toys and games? They don't need batteries!  Their motto: "No buttons, no batteries, just hands, mind & imagination required."

3. Bella Italia - Italian-themed décor right down to the checkered table clothes. My family and I have remarked that their pizza slices are some of the biggest we have ever seen! If you're having a party, I highly recommend their 6' hoagie!

4. Clay on Main - It's a non-profit clay studio where artists can come to create their art. They also offer workshops and 6-week classes, but if you are not sure that working with clay is for you, you can try out a drop-in class for 2 hours and just $30! This is a great way to try something new, if you aren't already making your own clay artwork.

5. Oley Valley Community Library - There is always fun to be had at the Oley Valley Community Library! They are focused on providing children with a safe and fun after school learning environment. They provide volunteer teachers for tutoring, assistance with homework, help with school projects as well as weekly craft & Lego nights, Spanish immersion, knitting club and other activities. And guess what? The programs are free! This Friday they will be having a therapy dog visiting at 10:30 for a demonstration, contributing to their "Super Heroes" themed summer reading program.

6. Reppert's Candy & Soft Serve Ice Cream & Toppings Bar - Reppert's Candy offers a variety of candy to satisfy every sweet tooth. Their motto: "Quality chocolates at an affordable price." New this year is their soft serve ice cream & toppings bar! What could be better than soft serve ice cream topped with Reppert's Candy? There are more than 35 delicious toppings that you can add to make yourself the perfect ice cream creation!

7.  Valley Mist Farm - Great horseback riding lessons, summer camps and boarding for your horses. They feature an indoor & an outdoor riding ring, and their lessons are for anyone - ages 3 through adult. My son has attended summer camp here for the past 2 years, and the instructors are knowledgeable and caring, and they make learning fun! My son's favorite part was washing the horses.

8. Oley Valley Fire Company - They hold many fun family events throughout the year such as their annual Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Parade, car shows, Breakfast with Santa and more. The fire company also has 4 bowling lanes that are used for their league bowling, and a dining hall that is open on weekends.

9. Oley Peach & Ice Cream Festival - Coming up soon on August 8 is the 2015 Oley Peach & Ice Cream Festival. Tractor pulls, car cruise, live music and of course delicious peach desserts! Fireworks conclude the event at 9pm.

10. Oley Valley Community Fair - Celebrate the beginning of fall with fun at the Oley Valley Community Fair!  This year, the fair will be September 17-19, and it will feature carnival rides, live music, livestock, tons of local business exhibits, great food and fun for all!
