We don't think twice about it. After a long day we get home and want to jump into our pajamas right away. Putting on our warm, comfy jammies makes us feel at home, safe, and relaxed. We take it for granted. There are many area children who don't have pajamas to jump into and feel safe in at the end of the day.

This is where 12 year old Kaitlyn comes in. Last spring her pastor told her about the children in need at the Delaware County shelters. She wanted to do something so she started The PJ Project. The PJ Project collects pajamas and donations (for pajamas) for local children in need. Her collected pajamas benefit over 1,000 children at the Delaware County Homeless Shelters, and The Laurel House, a shelter for women and children in Montgomery County. They accept pajamas for any size, gender, and season for children.

I know what you are thinking...... "What can I do to help?" Right? You can: Donate new pajamas, donate gently used pajamas, donate money to buy sizes that are needed, become a drop off spot for pajamas, have a "Pennies for PJ's" jar at your local business, and ask local churches and organizations to have pajama drives. They especially need more drop off spots in Berks County.

Macaroni Kid-Reading Area will be partnering with other local businesses to to provide a Community Day and fundraiser to benefit 'The PJ Project'. Save the date: September 17th and it will held at the Boone Area Library in Birsdboro. As it comes closer we will be looking for volunteers to help us run the event.
