Have you ever developed a skincare routine for yourself that worked great but then for some reason your skin wouldn't respond to it anymore? You thought your plan was great but then your skin doesn't seem as smooth as it used to be. It simply doesn't seem to work anymore. Well, don't fret.

There are 5 things you need to consider before you change your routine. These simple changes can get your skin back on track.

1. Water - make sure you're not dehydrated by drinking the right amount of water every day. You want your skin to be well-hydrated so you get the best results from your products.

2. Exercise - staying active whether you're going to a gym or simply walking around your neighborhood can help you combat stress. Stress can effect your skin no matter what product you're using.

3. Diet - Curb the sugary, high carb treats and drinks. If you realize you've been overindulging lately, take a step back.

4. Rest - Make sure you're getting the right amount of sleep. They don't call it a beauty sleep for nothing. When you sleep, your body rejuvenates and so does your skin.

5. Climate- If the seasons have recently changed, your skin may be responding to colder or warmer climates. Though it may be easier to keep the same routine year-round our skin may need different care during different seasons.

There you have it. Those are the 5 things to check before you change your skincare routine. There's no need to throw out your beloved (and at times, costly) skincare routine if you think it has quit on you. Check those steps and give your skin a few days to respond. If you don't see your skin getting back to normal after a week, then it may be time to find out where changes need to be made.
