Thank You Teachers!

A Collection of Thanks from Local Parents

November 28, 2016
This fall, Macaroni Kid held a contest in which parents could nominate some of their favorite teachers. We have shared some of what these parents had to say on our Facebook page, and during this week of Thanksgiving, we would like to share some more of them with you right here. If you know any of these teachers, please send them the link to this article so that they may see how much they are appreciated!

Miss Baugh, Oley Valley Elementary School: "She is very caring. She called me "just because" to let me know my child was adjusting well to kindergarten and he was working so hard."

Mrs. Bertolino, Oley Valley Elementary School: "Mrs. Bertolino has a positive influence on her classroom and my son.  Is always responsive with concerns and communicates with parents in a positive and timely  manner."

Mrs. Bowman, Birdsboro Elementary School: "She has been an amazing teacher and I believe she deserves more credit.  I am thankful for everything she does for the students at BEC and she deserves to be recognized for it."

Mrs. Boylan, St. Ignatius Loyola Regional School: "Mrs. Boylan is highly respected by parents and teachers alike. She holds parents as accountable as she does her students. She makes learning fun and continues to keep her students on their toes. She welcomes her students every morning with a warm smile on her face and an enthusiastic "Good Morning". My daughter is always excited to talk about her day and what she learned which is a blessing. She makes sure that parents are involved in what is happening in her classroom.  I look forward to her daily announcements and appreciate the fact that she takes the time to let us know what our children did during the day, what they are working on and what is to be expected of them so that we have time to prepare as life is so very hectic. She gives parents an opportunity to be involved in activities in the classroom whether its assisting with reading or party planning. I'm grateful that my daughter has the ability to spend an entire school year with Mrs. Boylan. I know she will be the teacher that my daughter will remember all through life, as will I."

Mrs. Clouser, Monocacy Elementary School: "She exudes love for her job, for her children . They love , admire and respect her becaus that is what they receive from her. She is an excellent teacher I have seen such an improvement in our grandchild , I volunteer with reading and math in her room , each child I see is an excellent reader an have outstanding math skills. She is such a pleasant kind person , always a smile on her face. She truly cares about the education of each child it's not just a paycheck to her."

Mrs. Davis, Oley Valley Elementary School: "Always with a smile, Mrs. Davis seems to have a knack for knowing just what all her students need and helps them to succeed every day."

Mrs. Degler, Reading Area School District: "Ms Degler is an amazing teacher who sees the potential in her students and makes sure to help them reach their potential! She goes above and beyond her duties as a teacher and maintaims great parent-teacher communication.  She is always grateful for anything that may be donated for her classroom and makes sure to thank those who donate individually. I have had two kids have her for 1st grade and hope my youngest has her for 1st as well."

Mrs. Fisher, Penn-Bernville Elementary School: "She is an amazingly kind, loving, and compassionate woman.  She goes above and beyond her job as a teacher, and is always ready with open arms for a good morning hug for her students when they need it."

Mrs. Galvin, Mt. Penn Elementary School: "My Daughter had Mrs. Galvin her first 2 years of school. My daughter needed some special attention, which the school did wonderfully with but Mrs. Galvin was fantastic with her. My daughter no longer has her but still loves her and gets so excited every time she gets to see her in school."

Mrs. Himmelberger, Tilden Elementary School: "She is very kind to her students and communicates with the parents as if we were in the classroom everyday with our children. My daughter is often sad when it's the weekend because she misses her teacher and the fun learning activities."

Mrs. Jordan, Schuylkill Valley Elementary School: "I would like to nominate Ms Jordan because she went above her job as a teacher.  She took an interest in what my son liked and used that to help him succeed in her class. She was very good at keeping me updated as a parent as to what my son was doing in her class. Her positivity and enthusiasm for learning kept my son engaged in his classwork. She was very good at sharing my sons actions with me and when he did something over and beyond what she expected. It not only kept me in the loop, it also showed how much she cares for her students."

Mrs. Kast, Mt. Penn Elementary School: "She was the kindergarten teacher for my two school aged children and she is a wonderful teacher both my kids loved having her as their teacher. Being that it's very hard sending your child to school for the first time I felt great relief knowing that my children were in such great hands. Mrs Kast absolutely made sure my children had their best first year of school! I have one child left who is yet to start school and I would love her to have Mrs Kast as well!"

Ms. Kramer, Penn-Bernville Elementary: "My son is new to the school.  He attended a private kindergarten.  Mrs Kramer has made him feel welcome and accepted since back to school night, and every night since!"

Miss Lewars, Green Valley Elementary School: "She helped my daughter immensely with separation anxiety as she entered kindergarten this year."

Mrs. Mountz, Schuylkill Valley Elementary School: "She encourages individuality and a love for learning new things."

Mrs. Peterson, Green Valley Elementary School: "I had Mrs. Peterson in second grade and loved being in her class. I am involved in theatre and Mrs. Peterson allowed us to do a play based on a book series that we were reading. She even played a role in the show! It is one of my favorite memories from elementary school! Also, I love science and she teaches the after-school Science Explorers program so I get to have her as a teacher again."

Mr. Towle, St. Ignatius Regional Loyola School: "Because he teaches his students very well , he is very funny, and he knows a lot about history."

Mrs. Zook, Daniel Boone Elementary School: "This is my daughter's Kindergarten year and she has Mrs Zook. She always comes home so excited about school and looks forward to school everyday. She loves her teacher. It takes a special teacher to work with Kindergarteners and Mrs. Zook excels. My daughter told me that she was really upset and crying her first day, but she was comforted by her teacher and Mrs. Zook took time to sit with her and talk to her. Makes me so happy to hear that she made her feel better about being at school and away from my comfort."
