Macaroni Kid Around Town: Kutztown Folk Festival

By Elizabeth Fritz July 13, 2012

Elizabeth Fritz was one of our winners a couple of weeks ago for the Kutztown Folk Festival tickets.  She e-mailed us a wonderful description of the fun she had with her son while they were there this past week, and she is kind enough to let us include it in this week's newsletter, along with some of her photos from the day.  Thank you, Elizabeth!!

We went to the Folk Festival today and my son and I had a great time!  It turned into one of the more expensive mommy/son days I've had with him because of all of the vendors, but he got to experience so many "firsts" so it was totally worth it.  I was excited for him to make a candle, which is the first thing we did and he had a blast riding on the old time horse pulled carousel.  He really enjoyed the kiddie area, which had swings, a tumbler ride and some inflatables.   Some free things which he loved included the hay maze and the puppet show.  It was very interactive and fun!

The most amazing part of the day, by far, was the baby goats we got to witness being born in the petting zoo.  That was an unexpected and amazing experience.

There was a lot for the kids to do and he really enjoyed himself.  They even took measures to make sure there were plenty places to sit, get some shade, and get cooled off (a misting house and a vendor who had a sprinkler going.) I would definitely recommend this to parents for next year.  I also think going the last day made a world of difference.
