March 1 - Plan a Solo Vacation Day -
Tired of fighting with your family over where to go on vacation or trying to match your schedule with everyone else's.  Then today is your day.  Time to plan that vacation you have always wanted to take.  Take a European tour, spend a weekend at the beach or just enjoy an overnight at a spa!  Sometimes we have to take that time away from everyone and everything to rejuvenate and refresh your body, mind and spirit!  Expand your world and come back to your home and family feeling renewed and full of self-empowerment.

March 2 - Dr. Seuss Day
Some of my favorite books from my children's early years are Dr. Seuss books!  I remember reading "Green Eggs and Ham" over and over to my oldest daughter and lately my 5 year old pulls out "Are You My Mother?" to be read at least once a week.  My 12 year old recently did a report on Dr. Seuss for school and we found out he was a really interesting guy!  Dr. Seuss wrote 48 books, including some for adults, that have sold over 200 million copies and been translated into multiple languages.  His books are known for their whimsical rhymes and quirky characters, for example his characters the Lorax and the Sneetches!

In honor of today, check out the Dr. Seuss pinwheel craft in this weeks newsletter!

March 3 - If Pets Had Thumbs Day
- Ever wonder what it would be like if your pets had thumbs?  One thing that sets humans apart from other species is an opposable thumb.  It allows us to do things that other creatures cannot do!  For me, being the sole caretaker of our pets, it would be great if they had thumbs!  They could feed themselves, clean up after themselves, bathe themselves.  Hmmmm....whomever came up with this holiday was on to something!

March 4 - Fun Facts About Names Day -
Did you know......
  • The name of the Taco Bell dog is Gidget.
  • Willy is the first name of Gilligan on Gilligan's Island, the TV show.
  • Barbie (the doll's) last name is Roberts and her middle name is Millicent.  Ken's last name is Carson.
There are all kinds of neat and interesting facts about names.  A great way to celebrate today is to look online and see what your name means.  Does it fit your personality?

March 5 - National Potty Dance Day -
Do the.....Potty Dance!  Do the.....Potty Dance!  Right side, cross. Left side, cross.  Do the.....Potty Dance!  If you are a mom of a toddler I know right now you are singing along with me.  Nothing is more exciting and rewarding to a mom as saying your little one is finally potty trained!  We schedule our lives around this task and it is an amazing feeling when you finally (or rather your child does) accomplish this.  So if your child is potty trained, today is the day to celebrate and if you are still working on potty training know that all us Macaroni Mom's are behind you 100%.  You can do it!

March 6 - Oreo Cookie Day - Original Oreo's, Mint Oreo's, Peanut Butter Oreo's, Strawberry Oreo's, Double Stuffed, Heads and Tails, Oreo Pie Crust.....and the list goes on and on.  There are so many different types of Oreo's and I LOVE EVERY ONE!  Most of you have probably heard of "Cheater" Oreo Truffles and if you haven't I seriously recommend you google it and try them!  Jen and I decided though that we couldn't celebrate this day with ONLY Oreo Truffles so instead we invented "Deep Fried Oreo Truffles".  We made them with our Cadette Troop this past week and they are to die for!  Make sure to check out the recipe in this newsletter!

March 7 - Cereal Day -
It’s National Cereal Day! Did you know that cereal is the most popular breakfast food in America?  This however was not always the case!  Up until the 1860s, most people ate eggs, bacon, and sausage every morning. Cereal did not emerge as a healthier alternative until the end of the 19th century!

To celebrate today here are some Cereal Fun Facts!
  • The first breakfast cereal ever produced was Shredded Wheat.
  • The average American eats 160 bowls of cereal each year.  That's an average of 11.9 pounds of cereal per year!
  • In German, Snap, Crackle and Pop are known as Knisper, Knasper and Knusper!
