April 23 - Movie Theater Day - Are there any good movies you've been wanting to see? Go today! Or, even if there's one that you have at home, make it a movie night at home. Create a home movie theater, complete with tickets, popcorn, and dimming the lights.
April 24 - Red Hat Society Day - It's the Red Hat Society's 15th year. Their motto, "We are a global society of women that supports and encourages women in their pursuit of fun, friendship, freedom, fulfillment, and fitness." I just learned that women of any age can join. They had started as a group of women for those who are 50 and older, but they have grown to include women of any age. Those who are under the age of 50, just wear pink hats instead of red. Wouldn't it be fun to have a Macaroni Kid chapter?
April 25 - Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day - I tried this with my children last year, and the biggest thing they took away from the day was that they didn't like working, and much preferred playing and going to school.
April 26 - Arbor Day - We celebrated Earth Day last week, but Arbor Day is a special day for a specific part of nature - trees! Celebrate today by planting a tree, climbing a tree, or reading a book about trees....How about "The Giving Tree"? (One of my personal favorites!)
April 27 - Eeyore's Birthday - Celebrate Eeyore's Birthday by slowing down a little. Eeyore is my favorite of the Winnie-the-Pooh characters. How can not love gloomy, old Eeyore, who is forever losing his tail and having to have it nailed back on - OUCH!
April 28 - International Astronomy Day - We love going outside to see if we can find the Big Dipper and Little Dipper or Orion's Belt. Teach your kids a new constellation today, or look at the moon through a telescope.
April 29 - Zipper Day - This seems like a silly thing to celebrate, but think about all the different things you have that have zippers - backpacks, jeans, make-up cases, coats, sleeping bags... What else has a zipper?
