National KidsDay is August 3!

A Special Holiday to Spend Your Time, Not Your Money

By Jennifer Schorr, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Reading-Pottstown July 29, 2014
KidsPeace created National KidsDay for the purpose of celebrating a day for kids.  There's Mother's Day and Father's Day, so KidsPeace thought it was appropriate to create a KidsDay, too!  This special day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate kids in so many ways, and to spend meaningful time together. The goals that KidsPeace hopes to achieve with National KidsDay are:

*To create awareness of children's value and needs year-round by focusing on a yearly celebration on the national calendar.
*To change the way America looks at - and treats - its children.
*To create a world in which children can find safety, love, trust and the freedom to grow and be a child.

National KidsDay gives you the opportunity to celebrate the unique and wonderful things that make your child special.  Need some ways to celebrate?  How about trying one of these:

*Take out old movies or old photograph albums from when you were growing up.  Point out some of the styles that were "cool" back then, but probably aren't anymore.
*Make a coupon book for your kids like they have probably made for you at one time or another.  Fill it with coupons good for reading a book together, having a movie night at home, cooking together, taking a walk, etc.  Kids can turn in the coupons to you whenever they are in need of a little bonding time.
*Turn up the music and dance!  Be silly, create your own dances, and just have fun celebrating how fun it is to be a kid!
*Take it outdoors - take a walk, fly a kite, ride bikes, or draw pictures with chalk in your driveway.

Tell us how you celebrate!
