Macaroni Review: Creatacard App on iPad

By Jennifer Schorr, Macaroni Kid Reading-Pottstown August 26, 2014
I was recently given the opportunity to review the new Creatacard app from American Greetings.  I have never seen anything like this before.  Not only do you get to create your own card to send to someone, but for just $3.49 American Greetings will actually print your card and mail it to whoever you want to send it to.  This is great for kids (especially with Grandparents Day coming up!)  What grandparent wouldn't love to get an actual hand-made and printed creation from their grandchildren?

We took the opportunity to test out the app by creating a card for my dad.  My son, who is 4, did most of the work of adding pictures and stamps to the card.  I helped him with the words, and I think the card turned out great! There's even a spot on the back of the card to say who it was created by.  We went to visit my parents this past weekend, and my dad showed us the card, which arrived just 4 days after we created it, and I was impressed.  It was exactly what my son and I had created, and it was a great quality card, too!

The app has many options you can use to make your card including different fonts, crayons, pencils, markers, stickers, stamps, picture frames, and you can even upload your own pictures to put on the card.  In addition, the app also has pre-made cards that you can use to personalize with your friend's name, or change the wording on the card all together.  My son had fun playing with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pre-made card.

We also showed off the app at an event we were at this weekend.  Kids really seemed to love playing with it.  It was fun to watch them add stickers and stamps, and see what the app could really do.  It was a definite hit!

The app is free, and you can download it here.
