By Jennifer Schorr, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Reading-Pottstown September 16, 2014
This is by no means a complete list of all the ways you can help others, but in case you need a little help, here are some suggestions:

*Buy a stranger a cup of coffee.
*Donate food to the local food pantry.
*Ask your local church if there is a family who needs help.
*Offer to run errands for an elderly neighbor.
*Make "Thinking of You" cards and distribute them at a local nursing home.
*Voluteer at a pet shelter, offering to walk the dogs.
*Bake cookies and give them to your local volunteer fire department as a way of thanking them for their service.
*Go through your child's clothing and toys to see what is outgrown and donate that to Goodwill.
*Make a meal and take it to a friend or neighbor who recently had a baby.
*Compliment a complete stranger.
*Thank a co-worker for their help with something.
*Tell a local business owner why you like their store/restaurant.
*Let someone with only a few items go ahead of you at the grocery store.
*Offer to babysit for someone who you know doesn't get a chance to get out much.
*Take some soup to someone you know who is sick.
*When you are out somewhere and you see someone trying to take a group selfie, offer to take the picture for them.

These are just a few ways that you can help others.  Try one of these, or come up with something on your own.  Better yet, ask your kids if they can think of anyways that they would like to help someone else.  Then go do it.
