Ava Anderson Non-Toxic Review

Last February on a whim I decided to try a new cleaning product for my home that I had never used before.  It was a brand name product (I will not mention which one), from a popular company and since it was on sale and I had a coupon I thought {Why not?}.  A few days later I started to use it in my kitchen to clean my counter tops, appliances etc.   Now I know that I have an extremely delicate sense of smell, but after using this product one time I felt sick to my stomach.  For hours all I could smell was the cleaner, and after 2 days of using it I started to lose my sense of taste. At this point I stopped using the cleaner.  Little did I know that 5 days later I would be in the ER with half my face completely numb, thinking I was having a stroke.

Luckily, after many tests and a night spent in the hospital I was sent home with a diagnosis of Bell's Palsy.  Since that time I have gone through months of physical therapy and weeks of steroid medication to reverse the numbness in my face.  (Which I am thrilled to say that except for a small change to my smile, my face is completely back to normal.)  But to this day my doctor still cannot give me a 100%, for sure reason as to why this happened.  All I can say is that I believe there was something in that cleaner that set it off!  Can it be proven, no.  But products from that company will not be used in my home again!  Which brings me to my point.  Are the chemicals in our cleaning and more importantly personal care products harmful? 

I was so excited when Diane Frederic a local Ava Anderson Non-Toxic Representative gave Jen and I a chance to review a few of their products.  After doing some research on their company, I was so excited to try them out.  Ava Anderson Non-Toxic sells SAFE cleaning and personal care products without the dangers of toxic chemicals.  This was just what I have been looking for! I was given the Glass & All Purpose Cleaner and the Natural Bug Spray to review and I must say that I LOVE both of them!

The Glass & All Purpose Cleaner has no alcohol or solvents of any kind; no butyls or glycol, no VOCs or any other toxins that might leave harmful residues after use!  It is made with natural plant based ingredients and pure essential oils that give it a wonderful minty smell.  But best of all, it cleans amazingly well!  I have a glass front door that my 3 children and 2 cats constantly leave smudges and finger prints all over.  Usually cleaning it is a chore but not with the Ava Anderson Glass & All Purpose Cleaner.  I have used it to clean my counter tops and appliances and so far have not found anything it cannot clean up!  But best of all I love the smell and it does not bother me at all!

Some other uses I have found for the cleaner are:

• Clothing stain treatment: spray area, blot and then rinse with cold water
• Cleaning grease off the stove hood
• Clean your rings by soaking them in the cleaner

I was also given the Natural Bug Spray to try and again I must say I am amazed at how well it works.  My daughter plays soccer at a field that I lovingly refer to as "the bug field" due to the fact that we are swarmed by gnats immediately after exiting the car.  We tried the bug spray at one of her practices in the fall and I was amazed at how well it kept the bugs away.  No other product that we have tried has worked as well as this one did and again I love the scent of eucalyptus and citrus that it has.
