Pennsylvania Game Commission Art Contest

For Students in Grades 6-12

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is holding it's first annual wildlife art contest for students in grades 6-12.  The agency is hoping that this contest will help them to spread the word about Pennsylvania's endangered or threatened species such as the Long-eared Owl, Black Tern, and Small-footed Bat, among others.  They also hope that this will help showcase the talents of young, local artists.

A full list of endangered species, the official rules, and an entry form can be found on the Pennsylvania Game Commission's website, by clicking here.  To enter, students in grades 6-12 must enter their artwork, depicting an animal from the endangered or threatened species list, in their natural habitat, and it must be biologically correct in size, color, shape and activity.  In other words, the artwork must be life-like.  All submitted artwork must be postmarked no later than February 7, 2014.

The winning artwork will be displayed in Harrisburg at the Pennsylvania Game Commission Headquarters during the month of March, which is Youth for Art Month.  It will also be displayed in April at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, also in Harrisburg.  There will also be cash prizes for the pieces chosen for first, second, third and fourth place.
