7 Ways to Use Leftover Easter Candy

By Jennifer Schorr, Publisher Macaroni Kid Reading-Pottstown April 7, 2015
By the time our kids get their Easter basket from the Easter Bunny, go to various Easter Egg Hunts and are given baskets from their grandparents, my kids have a ton of candy. But the thing is, they never eat it all, and I feel bad just throwing it away. Here are some ideas for ways that you can use your over-abundance of candy in other ways.

Freeze it
Yep, most candy is able to be frozen, so you can freeze it now and pull it out a little at a time as a special treat!

Save it
You know that you always end up buying candy in early December to decorate Gingerbread Men and Houses, well, if you are able to, save some of your Easter candy in a plastic baggie now and you will be all set. Just remember where you store it!

Melt it
A lot of Easter candy is made up of chocolate covered "something". Melt it down and drizzle it over ice cream for a different way to indulge in your favorite candies.

Make Peep Play Dough:

Ingredients:
3 Peeps
1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
3 Tbsp. Confectioner's Sugar

Directions:
1. Place the Peeps and Coconut Oil in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 10 seconds.
2.  Stir in the Confectioners Sugar, adding a little more if it is too sticky.
3.  Use your hands to get all the lumps out. If it is too sticky, add a little more confectioner's sugar. If it is too hard, add a little more coconut oil.
