Sticking to the Jenny Craig Plan while Traveling is Easy

October 23, 2017

Thank you Jenny Craig for sponsoring this post. Tried other diets? It’s time for Jenny Craig!

I was a little nervous about how I would be able to stick to my Jenny Craig Plan while traveling to our annual Macaroni Kid Meet-Up Conference in Long Island last week. I had talked with my consultant and made a plan, but I was still worried that the temptation of all the great foods would just be too much for me. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. It wasn't that I couldn't have any of the food, even though the pasta bar and Pigs in a Blanket were not part of my Jenny Craig plan, but it was mind over matter, and the fact of the matter was that I didn't want that food. I wanted to continue to lose weight.

Of course, it helps that the Jenny Craig meals taste so good! In fact, there were a few other Macaroni Kid Publishers following the Jenny Craig Plan at the conference, too, and one afternoon after one of them heated up their Jenny Craig lunch, the people around her wanted what she was having because it smelled so good! I don't remember which specific meal Carrie had that day, but it has happened to me at home, too. Just today my daughter wanted to know what smelled so good, and it was my Jenny Craig Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich!

I'm not going to tell you that I never indulged in anything while away, but I did think about each and every choice I was making. I passed on the Angus Beef Slider, Jumbo Pretzels with Warm Cheese, and Homemade Cookies & Brownies, but I did enjoy a few oysters from the Oyster Bar, as well as a true New York Bagel. There was wine nearly every night, and I didn't pass that up either. But in between those special items, I stuck to Jenny Craig as closely as I could. I packed Jenny Craig soups, breakfasts, salad dressing, shakes, Anytime Bars, and snacks. I ate salads and fruits whenever I could.

Even when driving 5 hours home, I took a Jenny Craig meal and a banana with me. When I stopped to fuel my car, I also refueled my body with healthy choices. The Jenny Craig Chicken Cranberry Salad Kit needs no refrigeration or heating, so it was a perfect choice to take in the car, and it was a much healthier choice that a fast-food drive-thru like the "old Jen" would have done.

For traveling, I felt I had done very well, but I was still worried that it wouldn't be enough when I returned home for my weekly weigh-in. I had indulged in a few non-Jenny foods here and there, and I had not exercised at all. The time came to weigh-in, and I am very pleased to report that I still lost 0.8 pounds while I was away! What does that mean for me? It encourages me. This truly is a lifestyle change and not just another diet. This is a way of eating that I can continue without feeling deprived. I can have a piece of cake on my birthday or a glass of wine when I have a date night with my husband. Overall, I am eating healthier, and I am not feeling like I am missing out on other things. I like how I am feeling, and what I am eating.

Thank you, Jenny Craig, for teaching me how to live healthier!
