Christmas 5 Senses Book

By Lacie Dooley, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Athens, GA December 18, 2017

Most older kids can make this book on their own or you can make it yourself for younger kids to enjoy. I suggest using hot glue to secure the items on the foam pieces and a single hole punch to create the holes. Everything except the piece of the tree can be found at a local craft store.

What you need:

  • 6 foam sheets
  • Small objects for each of the 5 senses
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Hole punch
  • Marker
  • Glue

What you do:

  1. Punch holes through each of the foam sheets, being sure to line them up. Then wrap a pipe cleaner through the holes. (Use our photos as a guide for all steps.)
  2. Label one page with the title of the book and decorate it. (Example: My Christmas 5 Senses Book)
  3. Write one "senses" sentence on each page "I feel the...", "I smell the...".
  4. Glue the matching objects to the foam sheets. We used a sprig from a pine tree, gingerbread man sticker, tiny gift bags, candy cane, and jingle bells.
