Like you, we've been spending far too much time at home, and my family has been itching to go somewhere fun. October in Pennsylvania can mean the weather is completely unpredictable, leaving it difficult to decide where to go to find that family fun. When we were given the opportunity to be a guest at Great Wolf Lodge in Mount Pocono, we knew it was the perfect getaway and exactly what we've needed. For a limited time, our sister site, CertifiKID, is offering Up to 30% Off a Great Wolf Lodge Overnight Stay!
We were in for some extra fun when we realized that we were going to be visiting during their Howl-O-Ween Celebrations, which included festive decor inside and outside and seasonal activities like their Trick-or-Treat Trail that ended with a fun Halloween dance party. Costumes are not mandatory but encouraged and certainly make it a more authentic trick-or-treat experience. These celebrations will continue through October 31, so if you're looking for a new way to celebrate, especially since parades and other activities may not be happening this year, as they have in other years.
Not visiting during Halloweentime? No problem! There are TONS of fun activities to keep your family busy. We enjoyed participating in everything we possibly could. Knowing we'd want to spend a lot of our time in their Indoor Waterpark, we opted to check out the other activities first, so we wouldn't run out of time... which could happen because there is so much more to do there than I even realized.
INSIDER TIP: Consider purchasing a Pup Pass, Paw Pass, or Wolf Pass for your kids. These passes allow you to save money on the Great Wolf Lodge activities and experiences. We had the Wolf Pass for our son, and it made the trip extra special because, with the pass, we were able to say YES all weekend long for every activity he wanted to do... plus a few extra things he didn't even know about!
With the Wolf Pass, my son was able to enjoy:
- MagiQuest wand and game
- Ten Paw Alley bowling
- Howl at the Moon Glow Golf
- Moonstone Mine
- Arcade card for the Northern Lights Arcade
- Build-a-Bear
- A Cup of Candy from Great Wolf Candy Company
- A Scoop of Ice Cream from Ben & Jerry's
- A Personalized Leather Treaty Name Bracelet
I know that some of you may be wondering (like I was before we visited) what changes have been implemented to make sure that families are staying safe. Let me be the one to put your minds at rest. I have seen first-hand just how committed Great Wolf Lodge is to their guests' health and safety, and I am very impressed with the Paw Pledge, their company-wide initiative. 6-foot social distancing is maintained with stickers on the floor throughout the common areas of the resort, like at the check-in desk, restaurant, waterpark, and anywhere there could be lines of people. There are hand sanitizer stations and disposable face masks available in many places throughout the resort, and face masks are required by all guests over the age of 2, and I was very impressed with the cleaning I saw being done throughout our stay. I felt very comfortable being there with my family, and look forward to returning again soon.

Tips for your stay:
- My son had a ton of fun doing the MagiQuest, but what we learned from our first visit several years ago was that this takes quite a bit of time if you want to complete the entire quest (collecting all the runes and completing all the adventures), it is best to begin the first day/night you get there and do a few quests in between the fun of the other activities. Each quest is done separately, which allows you to complete it all at once or at your own pace throughout your stay.
- Take a look at what special activities are being offered during your stay. There are often character appearances and storytimes, yoga for kids, and more, but these happen at specific times during the day/evening, and so you'll need to make note of the activities your family wants to participate in.
- Check-in is at 4 pm, but you can begin enjoying the waterpark as early as 1 pm. Similarly, on the day you check-out, even though you have to be out of your room by 11 am, you can still enjoy the waterpark until it closes, so make sure you pack a swim bag to keep things you'll need with you when you don't have access to your room. They do have changing rooms, which include showers, too.
